FAQ

Which platform should a beginner choose?

For pure forex with discretionary trading, MT4 is the path of least resistance because every broker supports it and there is a guide for everything. For learning to algo-trade in 2026, cTrader's Python support has the lowest barrier. For learning to read charts and follow ideas, TradingView wins.

Can I use the same broker on multiple platforms?

Most major brokers offer two or three platforms (commonly MT4 plus MT5, or MT4 plus cTrader). You typically need a separate account number for each platform but can transfer funds between them. Check the individual broker review for the current platform list.

Does platform choice affect the spreads I get?

Sometimes yes. Some brokers offer different account types per platform (e.g. cTrader Razor accounts often have raw spreads with commission, while MT4 Standard might have wider spreads commission-free). Compare spreads on the broker review page, not just the platform page.
